October Monthly Minute with Mrs. Heather!

The crispness in the air shows that October is here!  Out come the pumpkins, spice and everything nice as we start to prepare for all the fall festivities and activities.  My family’s favorite fall activities are carving pumpkins, making pumpkin bread and baking pumpkin seeds.  I would love to see what your family’s favorite fall activities are.  Just tag BDCS in your posts so we can see how you celebrate fall!

BDCS is continuing to work on creating a culture of community.  It is a big focus for us for the season.  The studio theme for October is social and community engagement.  The team is working this month on ways we can create more social and community engagement.

BDCS will have groups and students performing in local community festivals throughout the year.  October is a big month for these community performances because of many local fall festivals taking place.  We hope to be able to get more students involved in these performances to offer all an opportunity to perform and to show the community the different types of services and classes we offer.  Keep a look out for more detailed information as we get closer to performance dates.  We would love to see our BDCS community!

The last couple of months as I’ve been walking through the lobby, in and out of classes I’ve noticed students walking in and out of the dance studio in their dance shoes.   I want to emphasize how dangerous this is for our studio and students.  Shoes that are worn outside have oil, gas dirt, debris (like glass and rocks) that adhere to the soles of the shoes.  This makes the studio floor unsanitary for floor work and dangerous for our dancers that use bare feet while dancing.  The chemicals from the oil that adheres to shoes is very damaging and can limit the lifespan of the Marley floors used in the studio rooms.  I want BDCS to continue to be a beautiful and safe space for all our students and families.  Your continued support and help is necessary.   Please make sure that your dance shoes are designated for in studio use only and are not worn outside for any reason.  This will help to keep our studio beautiful for many years to come!  

The month of October also brings new classes!  So exciting to see our studio growing and classes overflowing with students eager to learn and grow in the arts.   Below are two new classes we are opening up starting in October.

• Groovy Ballet- Level 1 beginners;  Mondays 5:00 PM (Open to current and new students)
• Jitterbugs- 4-5 year old preschool dance class;  Tuesdays 6:15 PM (Open to current and new students)
• DanceFit Tap- Adults;  coming soon!  Please see the front desk to sign the interest form!

We are ready to reveal our winter concert themes to our students and families.  Shows and performances are such an exciting time for our students and we can not wait to celebrate them on stage in December during the winter concerts and productions.
