Seussical Production
Seussical Production is BDCS’ end of year performance for our Groovy, Starburst, Pizzazz, Fierce, Diva and DanceFit students in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Vocal, Acting and Production classes. A musical perfect for the whole family, Seussical takes us into the world of Dr. Seuss, where we revisit beloved characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and JoJo. The Cat in the Hat guides us into The Jungle of Nool where we see Horton, the kind hearted elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing Whoville. He meets JoJo, a Who child sent to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton decides he must protect the speck of dust on a nearby clover, while at the same time protecting an abandoned egg left to his care by the lazy Mayzie la Bird. Horton tries to convince the other animals in The Jungle of the existence of the Whos, but he is ridiculed and put on trial for insanity. Only his loyal neighbor, Gertrude McFuzz, never loses faith in him. Eventually, the two fall in love. Now one of the most widely produced musicals in the country, Seussical weaves a story of friendship, loyalty, and love. Despite all odds, Horton and Gertrude band together to save the Whos, free Horton, and restore peace and unity to the Jungle of Nool. Charming Seussical teaches us the power of being unique, and the importance of fighting for your beliefs.
Location & Tickets
This year’s productions are being held at Norristown High School’s Auditorium. The address is 1900 Eagle Drive, Norristown PA 19403. The performance will be held on July 29, 2023 at 6:30PM. Tickets start at $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 and under. Ticket sales begin on July 19th at 9:00 AM and can be purchased using the link provided in the details! VIP members will have early access to purchase tickets starting on 7/14/2023 using a code that will be emailed to you.
Picture Day is Monday, July 17th from 7:00PM to 8:45PM.

Rehearsal is Saturday, July 22nd from 10:45AM to 12:45PM
Rehearsal will be held at BDCS studio in the red and blue studios. This rehearsal is for students to understand the logistics of the show. We will be running through the entire show. This is the only time we will be able to run the entire show before the performers are on stage, so it is important for every performer to be present for this rehearsal. There are many sections where multiple classes are on stage and dancing together. This rehearsal will be the first time they get to run it all together so we can make the show on stage seamless. This rehearsal is extremely important for a smooth and stress-free experience for all. Please make sure your performer is in attendance for this rehearsal. This is a “Dress Rehearsal” and students should wear their costumes for the show! Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of rehearsal to prepare; costume on shoes on and ready to start at 10:45AM!
Show Day: July 29, 2023 at 6:30 PM
Seussical show will begin promptly at 6:30PM. Please arrive 1 hour prior to the start of the show to allow time to check in, get settled and ready to start on time! After the show students ages 6-10 will need to be checked out by a parent or guardian with a BDCS team member. Students ages 11 and up will meet family members in the lobby.
Professional Videographer and Photographer Booked!
BDCS has hired a professional videographer and photographer from EAP Dance Photography and Video to capture all of the memories for all 3 of our productions this year! This is an added extra bonus to our families this season that is included in your annual membership fee. All BDCS families will receive a FREE digital copy of the video and digital access to the photos for download.
