Beauty & The Beast Ballet Production
Beauty and the Beast is a ballet created by French composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It is based on the traditional fairy tale of the same name, in which a beautiful young woman is taken captive by a beastly prince. The ballet was first performed in 1877, and has been staged numerous times since. The story of Beauty and the Beast has been told many times, in many different ways. The original fairy tale was written by French author Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve, and was first published in 1740. It was later adapted into a ballet by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The ballet tells the story of a beautiful young woman named Belle, who is taken captive by a beastly prince. Belle is initially terrified of the Beast, but eventually comes to see him as a kind and gentle creature. The two fall in love, and the Beast is transformed back into a handsome prince. Beauty and the Beast is a timeless story that has been enjoyed by audiences for centuries. The ballet is a beautiful and moving interpretation of the classic tale.
Location & Tickets
This year’s productions are being held at Norristown High School’s Auditorium. The address is 1900 Eagle Drive, Norristown PA 19403. The performance will be held on July 28, 2023 at 6:30PM. Tickets start at $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 and under. Ticket sales begin on July 19th at 9:00 AM and can be purchased using the link provided in the details! VIP members will have early access to purchase tickets on July 17th using a code that will be emailed.
Picture Day Monday, July 17th from 5:00PM to 6:30PM.

Rehearsal is Saturday, July 22nd from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Rehearsal is held at BDCS studio in the Red and Blue studios. This rehearsal is for students to understand the logistics of the show. We will be running through the entire show. This is the only time we will be able to run the entire show before the performers are on stage, so it is important for every performer to be present for this rehearsal. There are many sections where multiple classes are on stage and dancing together. This rehearsal will be the first time they get to run it all together so we can make the show on stage seamless. This rehearsal is extremely important for a smooth and stress-free experience for all. Please make sure your performer is in attendance for this rehearsal. Dancers should be in their regular dance uniform for this rehearsal.
Show Day: Friday, July 28, 2023
The show will start promptly at 6:30 PM. Please arrive 1 hour prior to the start of the show to allow time to pick up your costume, change into your costume, check in and get settled for the show.
After the show students ages 6-10 will need to be checked out by a BDCS team member. Students ages 11 and up will meet family members in the lobby. Please remember to turn in your rental costume prior to leaving the theater building.

BDCS has hired a professional videographer and photographer EAP Dance Photography and Video to capture all of the memories for all 3 of our productions this year! This is an added extra bonus to our families this season that is included in your annual membership fee. All BDCS families will receive a FREE digital copy of the video and digital access to the photos for download.
